Dune Christian Dior perfume - a fragrance for women 1. This was my mother's signature scent for years yet to be honest I was never fond of the scent when she was wearing it. I thought it was too heavy and masculine for my taste. I thought it smelled like old man's cologne!

However, now that I started TO REALLY discover the wonderful world of perfumes, I saw myself reaching out for her bottle to test it on myself just to see whether the "magic" which everyone talks about here so often describe, would indeed perform on my skin. PThat being said, the more I was testing various fragrances, I still for some reason didn't give up on this one, and so I decided to try it again knowing that for some scents your taste must be acquired over time, and I definitely think that this is was DUNE is about. If you are strictly into celebrity, sugary sweet, and light perfumes, then this is definitely not for you. And seriously, out of all the perfumes that I own, when I spray DUNE on, I get a totally different experience because of ITS uniqueness. There seriously truly isn't anything like this on the mainstream market(at least what I my nose has been sniffed out so far XD). This scent is OVERWHELMINGLY powerful for an Eau de Toilette when you first spray it on; it's just unbelievable.(I think I have the pre- reformulated version as the juice is darker then what I see on store shelves). When I say that this scent is overwhelming I don't mean this is a negative way though.

The scent is dark and I can't exactly make anything of it when I smell it. That's what's so wonderful about it; you have to wonder and decipher what the notes are and you can't really exactly! DUNE is an Oriental but it's not a typical Oriental type of scent which I have been exposed to and it's not along the likes of SHALIMAR oh no.

It's so mysterious because it's so uncommon. In addition to that, the perfume smells waaaay different on me than on my mother which is a VERY good thing! Anyway, I like this most when it sets into my skin after an hour.

It becomes vanillic but once again, it's still unusual but at this point it's just more alluring and womanly. I kind of wish that that's how I would smell like when I first spray myself in it, but then again I wouldn't be experiencing such a journey. I had my doubts whether I can seriously pull this one off in public since I have almost reached my mid- twenties, but my mom reassures me that this suits me.

In fact the best mom that she is, she has given me her bottle as present and I am proud to own it. That being said, I don't think that it's something that I would wear on a first date for fear of intimidating the man, because I do find that this perfume resonates with assertivenes and slight snobbishness because of its potency. It's not a bad thing, but because this scent is definitely mature; it does gives off an intriguing "keep your distance" vibe so it can be somewhat off- putting. However, when you wear this, wear it with utmost CONFIDENCE or else DUNE will wear you! Basically, if this doesn't work for the first time, don't give up!
